Annacotty is a 30-acre solar farm in Co. Limerick. Planning permission was awarded by Limerick County Council in the summer of 2017. The project will be one of the first photovoltaic PV installations in Ireland connecting to the national grid through an ESB (Electricity Supply Board) connection located adjacent to the project site. It will serve as a demonstration project for a PERC PV new technology module which comes to market in early 2018. It avails of panel efficiencies of 19%, outputting 360W per module. It works better in Northern European conditions (overcast and rain) increasing the output per m2 while also reducing the costs per Watt to install. Project initiation will coincide with the announcement of the Irish PV tariff.
